The PCSWCD was formed over 60 years ago to protect the soil and water in this region.  We are a not-for-profit quasi state agency run by a dedicated, elected and appointed volunteer board of supervisors and two employees.

Our unique approach to conservation allows us to work with many partners including federal, state and local government agencies.  Working together, the District and its partners are able to carry out conservation work efficiently and effectively through better communication, sharing of resources, and through coordinated efforts.  We work to identify local natural resource conservation issues and implement ways to address them.

The District hosts several programs in the community, landowners, citizens, municipalities, schools and other organizations benefit from these.  We link landowners, contractors, waterfront property owners and road associations to services that assist in management of their land while assisting in minimizing the impact on natural resources.  We strive to bring landowners technical expertise, funding, and the permitting sources they need, to complete voluntary conservation work on their land.

The Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District  is a non-profit organization. All proceeds from our fundraising efforts are used to promote conservation and the wise use of our natural resources. The Piscataquis County SWCD is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
