PCSWCD IS ASKING FOR INTERESTED PARTIES TO JOIN!

Monday, April 11, 2011, 6:30 pm

Over 60 years ago, a dedicated volunteer board created the PCSWCD for the purpose of protecting the soil and water of the region. Today, the District is a not-for-profit quasi state agency, made up of elected and appointed volunteer supervisors, and two employees.

The District partners with federal, state and local government agencies.  Working together, the District and its partners are able to administer unique approaches to conservation, enabling conservation efforts to be carried out efficiently and effectively with superb communication, resource sharing, and through other coordinated efforts. The District makes it their job to identify local natural resource issues and implement ways to address them.

The District hosts several programs that bring knowledge of conservation to the people who can implement it. The District helps landowners, municipalities, citizens, schools, contractors, road associations and many other organizations understand where to find technical expertise, funding for services that assist in management of their land, and permitting sources they need, to complete voluntary conservation work on their own land. The District assists in minimizing the impact on natural resources.

The Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District  is a non-profit organization. All proceeds from our fundraising efforts are used to promote conservation and the wise use of our natural resources. The Piscataquis County SWCD is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
