 The Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District’s mission is to be a leader in agriculture, forestry and other natural resource education, providing assistance and coordination of resources and information to promote practices that maintain our way of life. We are a non-profit organization. All proceeds from our programs are used to promote conservation and the wise use of our natural resources.

 

 

 

 

Contractor Certification

Third Party Inspection          $20.00/site review

                                                                       

The District can serve as a third-party inspector to monitor compliance with MDEP (Site Law) permit

conditions during construction.

 

Integrated Crop Management Program                    $25.00/acre/season

This is a seasonal field monitoring program for blueberry producers to identify any potential problems. Soil and leaf tissue testing is done through the University of Maine’s Cooperative Extension.

 

Watershed Project Sponsor                                    $35.00/hour

The District can act as the sponsor of watershed  improvement projects on behalf of lake associations, municipalities, or watershed groups. 

 

Landowner Technical Assistance

LakeSmart consultation 1st hour  complimentary  $25.00/hour thereafter                                                                       

Staff will meet with landowners and provide options for addressing problems (such as lack of buffer and erosion of property  that impact water resources.

 

Erosion and Sedimentation Control Plan Review  $55.00/hour

The District can approve Erosion and Sedimentation Control Plans required by the Department of Environmental Protection for activities covered in the Maine Construction General Permit.

 

Buffer Planting Design                                             $35.00/hour

Design of watershed buffer plantings for shorefront property owners or businesses to improve water quality and aesthetics

                                               

Permit Preparation Services                                     $35.00/hour

Our staff can prepare application packages and draft documents on your behalf for submittal to state, county and federal permitting agencies. Permit navigation assistance is available to the degree that landowners request, and can include information, application preparation, permit follow through coordination, representation at meetings (time plus mileage at federal rate , currently 48.5 cents/mile, and more.

 

Equipment Rental

Frontrunner Grader/Raker                       $50.00 for the first two miles of usage.              

                              Maintenance fee of $25.00 for up to three additional miles.

Cyclone Seeder                                         $5.00per day rate
