The Annual Trout Sale is Here! Pre-order by May 4th to Stock Your Pond with Trout!

Ponds that are stocked with trout provide multiple benefits for landowners and their families.

If you are a returning customer, or stocking your pond for the first time, there are some requirements that you should be aware of. A current permit is required by the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Department for the species most appropriate for your pond. A copy of this will need to be submitted with your preorder. You will also need to bring your original permit to the sale pick up in order to receive your brook trout. A new sale format this year for rainbow trout is that they will be delivered directly to your pond.

If you do not have a permit you may pick up an application from the PCSWCD office, request one by email from us, or download the application at the link below or from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife website at www.maine.gov/ifw/licenses_permits/forms_applications.htm.

Ponds that are stocked with trout also can provide families with a low-fat, low cholesterol, high protein, heart-healthy fish. By stocking 6″-8″ or larger trout in early spring and feeding them throughout the growing season, many nutritious meals may be enjoyed before the ice cover in winter. Trout also provide food for wildlife and migratory birds.

A minimum order of $50.00 is required. Contact the PCSWCD at 564 – 2321, Extension 3, by email at info@piscataquisswcd.org, or stop in at the USDA Service Center at 42 Engdahl Drive in Dover – Foxcroft for more information. This sale supports our education programs and also enhances your natural landscape.
